7&1/2 foot Python on the loose!?

dog deterrent

Our neighbors have lost their sons 7&1/2 ft. Python.
The neighbor’s didn’t tell us for a week and now they are acting like it’s no big deal. They said it cannot kill or eat anything bigger than a rat… BULL SPIT!
We are in the county so animal control can do nothing.
We have 2 small dogs and a cat that we have closed off the doggy door (keeping dogs in and safe and keeping snake out)
And are not allowing them to go out without us for protection from this snake.
Our dogs want to play in their own yard!
Are there any deterrents to keep this snake out of our yard and keep our animals safe?
We have checked into snake deterrents for snakes native to our area, but a Python snake is not a native to this country
(Not sure if this stuff will work on a python) and I don’t think I’ll feel safe until it is found.
What can be done?

How can i start to like COD5?

dog silencer

I was pretty disappointed with cod5 & i dont enjoy online or campaign at all. the maps sucked in cod5, the weapons really sucked. the only map that i like was the rounderhouse & the only thing that i like about the game was the tanks & the ability to call in dogs after 7 kill streak. i thought that cod4 was like 20x better than cod5. but how can i start to like cod5? now no1 plays cod4 online & its very very hard to find a game so i got no choice but to play cod5 but how can i begin to like it? what should i do? the campaign is dead boring for me. im sick of ww2 games..oh yea & the only weapons that i liked in cod5 was the Springfield, the rest sucked!! the dot sight is so so so useless & inaccurate. its better just to use the weapons without anything or perhaps with a silencer. so what should i do to like it? has any1 been like me b4, & not liked cod5 first but then liked it??if you have how did you begin to like it? thx
ye I’ve played Nazi zombies with friends who have finished the game, its really fun but u cant just play that forever. & i got resistance 2 & the online is boring on that game so…..i returned resistance 2

Any solutions for protecting outside gardens?

dog deterrent

I have six outdoor gardens in my backyard, framed in with railroad ties, and they are level with the grass. I have a chain link fence on two sides of the yard, but my neighbor and I share a massive rock wall between our yards and I have a pest problem. Anything ranging from squirrels and birds to cats and dogs. I live in the Lake Tahoe area (Truckee) and we have a large range of predators. I’ve seen black bears in the neighborhood, and heard stories of mountain lions on the prowl. I hear coyotes howling every night. My thought was instead of protecting the gardens with chicken wire or using a greenhouse, to place a couple drops of urine scent on the railroad ties. I want to be able to "scare" away the other animals without inviting the big ones into my yard. Has anyone used synthetic urine as a deterrent for pests? My thought was to use something along the lines of Brown Bear scent or Mountain Lion/Cougar scent.
Let me add that my gardens are 3′ x 6′ (2), 4′x4′(3) and 2′x20′. I have a lot of ground to cover, fences degrade the extensive landscaping I’ve done in the yard. I just want an invisible deterrent with nominal side effects.

Do anti bark collars like Innotek spray, Petsafe electronic collar or Dogtra no bark collars work for dogs that bark out of fear?
We have tried everything to stop our dog from barking at pedestrians during walks. She just goes crazy barking and wanting to charge them when she sees someone walking/jogging toward us. It’s like she wants to get them before they get her.
It’s really stressful and feel so bad for people who have to cross our path during their walks.
We have tried following techniques, and none seems to work with her. This is the reason I am thinking of resorting to the spray or electronic devices.

1) blocking her view
2) giving her treats
3) sitting her down and tapping her nose with a stern "NO"
4) spraying water
5) ultrasonic sounds
6) running fast by pedestrians
7) having pedestrian stop in front of her, she sniffs gives a few barks then she is ok until another pedestrian comes our way then the cycle repeats again.

We really don’t know what else to do. If anyone has any other techniques that has worked with their dog, I would greatly appreciate the advice. Also if these sprays or electronic devices work on dog that deter dogs that bark out of fear.
FYI: my dog is 15lbs terrier mix & very fearful, however, when in crowd of people like at a coffee shop, she is a mute and just wants me to hold her.

Also, debarking is not an option.
Note: I tried calming her down stroking her, telling her "no" in soothing tone for 3 days straight but that didn’t work for her either. I wished it did. :(

How do you stop a Boxer from having itchy paws?

dog deterrent

Things that I have tried:

- deterrent bitter sprays
- warm water paw baths
- antihistamine tablets (benedryl, hydroxizine – they do make him sleepy and temporarily stop him from biting his paws – but the idea is to make it stop)
- hydrocortisone creams
- prednisone (it works but I do not want him on steroids for his paws all the time)
- changed his food to a hypoallergenic brand
- I do not spray or fertilize my lawn and he is indoors 90% of the time

It is an ongoing battle which is very frustrating as I hate seeing him in distress. If anyone has had any luck with their dogs doing other stuff – any input would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

Save my house from my cats?!?

dog deterrent

Suzie was born inside our house and has never in her life used the litter box. We tried to train her, regardless of all our tactics and the tips we received from vets and advice websites, nothing ever worked. She’s 4 years old, has went to the vet and got a clear bill of health, she’s been spayed, but she constantly urinates and poops all over the living room. She likes to go outside, and we let her, but she will NOT do her business outside. She’ll scratch at the door to come in and once she does, she soils the living room carpet and then wants to go back outside to play some more. We tried leaving her outside, but she’ll hold it in until she’s sick if we don’t just let her in and clean up after she’s done.

The horrible thing of the matter is that most of our other cats are following in her pawprints and the house is becoming nearly uninhabitable. The difference is that the other cats aren’t inhibited by which room they go in though. From bedrooms, to dirty laundry, kitchen counters, appliances, the dining room table. They’ll urinate EVERYWHERE, but they WILL poop in the litter box, which is one up on Suzie.

We love our cats and the majority are already fixed and those that aren’t are going to be very soon. We keep the litter boxes clean and it’s strange how they’ll poop in the litter box but urinate everywhere else.

So I need two pieces of advice.
1- What can I do to stop them from soiling the carpets, counters, and pretty much everywhere. They’re not normal, they LIKE the smell of oranges and lemons, even vinegar!, so those kinds of deterrents don’t work O_O…

2- What can I do to get rid of the smell. I know apple cider vinegar is great for clothes, sheets, and such, but the carpet is so rancid and we really can’t afford nor do we have the man power to pull it up or change it. I’m DESPERATE on getting rid of the smell and odors. It’s stifling!

About us:
We live in the country with numerous indoor cats. My dad is a stroke patient and we recently lost our beloved dog Jack. We’re all attached to these cats and can’t bare to throw them away. Yes money is tight at the moment, but we’re getting by and you can’t replace love. There are dangerous animals that lurk in the woods around our house at night, so we don’t allow any of them to stay outside unless it’s during the day and we’re home, in which case they always stay around the back patio anyway. I really don’t know what to do anymore to get them trained and stop making our house to unpleasant. Most people who used to visit has even stopped coming because of the smell that just won’t go away.
I completely appreciate any and all advice that can help make our house a home again and put our felines back to being behaved pets.

ultrasonic dog

Hi there, i hope you do not mind my attack of questions.
My dog has a habit of barking and growling at other dogs when she is on the lead and even though she is harmless and just wishes to play most people are afraid to let their dogs near her so it makes socialising difficult.
She is six years old and for the past year i have not managed to find a suitable "working" way of training her out of it.
I have tried a muzzle to stop the fears of others, I have tried a canny collar, i have tried a pinch collar, neither work to stop the pulling and the barking i can usually only stop by making her sit and ocassionally having her lie down whilst i hold my arm over her neck, it sounds harsh but i do not harm her (usually the owners panic if she throws a tantrum so i have to get her out of the way to make her calm down) after a few minutes of seeing a dog she usually behaves pretty well but people never stick around that long. She is a stubborn dog and with the canny collar she always pulls out of it, with the pinch collar she learnt after a few days that she could in fact pull and it would not hurt her, i am considering getting an ultrasonic collar in hopes that it will help teach her not to bark, i am hoping this will also stop people being afraid of letting their dogs near her as if she is not barking she wont be as "scary" is this a good idea or does anyone else have a better suggestion? Again, i do not harm my dog and i never would, i do not force her to lay and pin her down, i just convince her to stay down or she is not allowed to see the dog in question.

And yes she is friendly, i know for a pure fact, i let her near the dogs and she only ever wishes to play, she has never harmed a dog and many a dog trainer will tell you the same, she is only telling me that she wants to go over to the dog, but i can not socialize her when she behaves this way. She is a German shepherd cross, on the small size, but people fear her so much it worries me.
I am curious to know what is "NOT TRUE"
I know this is not aggression, i know it is fear related, and i also know she is not aggressive.
Dorothy i thank you for your advice, but i have to say it has been tried and tested, she has her moments when she wont bark or she stops instantly…But people are not very social here and then she misbehaves more when she doesn’t get to go towards the dog in question after "behaving"
No i will not hit her because hitting a dog teaches it nothing but more fear.

I ignore her if she barks or pulls, sure she is pretty strong and if she tried hard enough i’d be on my ass but i ignore her nonetheless, i’ve been doing this for so long, she has learnt that i’m doing it to make her "stop barking and pulling" but if i then go near dog, say the dog comes around the corner, off the lead, without an owner (as most do) BOOM! she’s off with the attitude, i have noticed she only snaps at any dog if it growls at her first when she causes a scene and if they run sh

If convicted rapists and child molesters aren’t going to be executed and are simply going to rot in prison for the rest of their lives, being a drain on the system, shouldn’t they at least be put to good use, in a setting where their (well deserved) pain and suffering will, in the long-run, help humanity?

As a veterinary technology student currently taking Research Methods, I know the suffering that poor little mice, rats, hamsters, dogs, cats, and primates go through, and I want to cry every time I restrain a terrified, squeaking little mouse to give it an injection. But the reality is that lab animals are needed, otherwise most, if not all, of the life-saving medicines that we have today would not be here.

So, why not put our convicted criminals to work? If we’re not simply going to kill the monsters and bury their unembalmed bodies in a mass grave so that they decompose and are no longer a burden on the economy or the earth, we could at least put them to good use. It would relieve the suffering of innocent lab animals while at the same time testing out new drugs, performing tumor studies, etc on creatures that are as identical as possible to human beings — humans themselves.

It could also potentially act as another deterrent: if you want to molest kids, then you’re going to spend the rest of your life strapped to a table with a tumor growing in your abdomen, or your lung, or your face.
