ultrasonic dog

My neighbor’s dog is left outside in his backyard all day. During that time, he barks incessantly. I cannot even turn on the television in my home or it will trigger crazy barking from this beast. When I go outside, the dog barks, growls, and acts as though it wants to kill me even though it has seen me a 1000x in my yard.

I have tried to talk to my neighbors and ask that they do something on numerous occasions. Nothing has happened. I called the police once because there is a dog barking ordinance in our city. But, the police told me it is very difficult to enforce since you have to show extraordinary barking over a long time (even though the police heard and saw the beasts angry, callous yowling and growls).

In addition, I have attempted everything from a ultrasonic bark control gadget to saying nice things to the beast to screaming in fury at him. Nothing works. I am at my wits end and want some peace in my own home.

neighbors barking dog

I’m jobless for the next couple weeks and bored out of my mind. How can I offer to walk my neighbors dog without coming off as a nosey neighbor?

Are there any pet safe pest deterrents?

dog deterrent

I’ve scrubbed my house top to bottom and I can’t seem to get rid of everything.
I’ve put down talcum powder for the ants. While it helps, it doesn’t seem to stop the fire ants.
And earlier I walked into the kitchen just to be met by a gigantic beetle in the floor and a couple of spiders falling down into my face.

With the area I live in, I’m not only afraid of the creepy crawlies sneaking in through the cracks. I’ve already seen a dozen or so reports of rattlesnakes in homes, I’ve seen scorpions in our old houses, and I’ve been so unlucky as to find a brown recluse lurking the neighborhood.
I have dogs outside and one that has taken a few rattler bites and I’m afraid another one might do her in.

Is there anything I can use inside and out to repel general house pests as well as scorpions/snakes/spiders outside?

How on earth can i get my dog to stop barking?

ultrasonic dog

I have a red cattle dog who is now 14 months old. Over the past month he has developed a horrible habit of barking practically all the time, non-stop. We’ve tried almost everything, including:
a) telling him "quiet" then giving him a treat when he is quiet for 3, 6 or 9 seconds
b) ignoring him
c) chastising him
d) ultrasonic collar
e) citronella collar (this actually worked wonders for a few days and then he decided to ignore it and keep barking anyway >:\ )
f) doing what the dog trainer said and putting him in an isolated place when he barks (our bathroom) and then letting him out when he’s quiet.
I have no idea what to do now. I don’t want to get him a shock collar because I believe they are cruel. There’s a two week training course at a local petcare place but I really want that as a last resort.
We think he barks because he wants attention?
Please help!!!

Outside training recommendations?

Alright, I just received a call from a past client. She has a kennel run for both her dogs, but one has started to guard the housing unit of the kennel, and the other dog won’t stop barking and whining because he can’t get inside, and her neighbor is complaining.
Another issue is that the kennel is about 100 yards from their house on the back side of their property so getting to the dogs in enough time to correct the behavior when it is happening is impossible for her, and I do NOT make 3 am. house visits to clients. She put an ultrasonic bark deterrent in the kennel run portion, and that has worked to cease the dog’s barking, HOWEVER, the dog with the guarding issues needs to be corrected, and the issue resolved. We’ve already removed one source of contention between the two from the kennel, but the fact still remains that there are 2 dogs in 1 kennel that is too small for the both of them.
I suggested the dogs be crated within the housing unit of the kennel so as to avoid the guarding issue, and that worked for a few weeks before the client explained that she had relented, and let the dog out because she could hear the dog whining and barking over the baby monitor she’d set up in the housing unit.
We’ve tried crating one, and leaving the other free, but that is still an issue. Because the one dog has issues being separated.
I recommended crating the dogs inside the house, but she is completely against that idea due to the inconvenience of having to fold away the crates every morning.
My most recent recommendation was to give the dog’s a freedom trial run. The dogs have a dog door that leads into the house’s attached garage, and I recommended leaving the kennel door open at night so the dogs could go in there, or into the garage. Our only concern with this is that the dogs may bark out near where the neighbor lives and cause her to complain again. (dogs are contained by an invisible fence.)
The fact the dogs are soo far removed from the house, and the client is borderline unwilling to adhere to my suggestions in regard to this issue is a bit of a challenge here, and I’m starting to run out of ideas that don’t include bark collars (I hate them, but the husband is thinking about using them)
I’m beginning to think that it would be best to use an e-collar on the dog guarding the kennel when he’s guarding it because the e-collar would offer the correction from a distance, but at the right time. Now, I would only instruct my client to use the pager setting, and the shock button would be taped off so there wouldn’t be any mistakes there, but I don’t really like this idea, and it’s a last resort sor of thing.
If any of you have any recommendations as to how to handle this I’d be grateful. I’m trying to offer them a cost effective solution, but I’m thinking their best bet would be to put in a second dog door on the housing unit of the kennel, and divide the kennel run with a fence so the dogs have their own housing unit and kennel run.
It is extremely irritating to try and help someone whose dogs are so decidedly removed from the family, and all the dog’s want is to be near said family. The dogs do well in the house, but the owners insist on having them outside at night. This is something I have told them repeatedly I’m not a fan of, but hey, that’s how they want it.
If it matters at all, the dogs are both 9 mo. old adolescent, altered males. One is a Catahoula mix (the one with guarding issues), and the other is a hound/lab mix.
They’ve done well with all the other training, but this one issue has just recently reared it’s ugly head, and I’m at a loss.
Hate to say it DOG, but you really should read the entire thing because if you had…you would know I’ve already, REPEATEDLY told them to do so, and they won’t.
I’m pet sitting for them on Saturday, and we’re going to schedule another session to "talk". I’m basically going to kindly put the hammer down on them, and let them know what needs to be done. After the initial training the way they’ve got the dog’s living is basically undoing all the work we’ve done.
Ironically, I’ve told them they need to walk the dogs, but they argue that the dogs get enough exercise running their three acre yard. I host pack walks around town, and have even invited them to join…offering to assist if need be.
It is becoming clear that they feel I haven’t done anything for them…in this area. Well, frankly, as you all know, I can’t do anything if they won’t listen to reason. SOOOOOO, the hammer will be brought!

Best small dog no bark collar?

ultrasonic dog

I am looking for a good no bark collar (from any company in any brand you know of) for my little mini dachshund/chihuahua mix who weighs about 5 to 6 pounds full grown (very important is his size).

What would you suggest?

We are trying to stick to either spray, vibration, and/or shock (or any combination of those) and not sound because our other dog has very sensitive ears and the ultrasonic stuff hurts her ears.

Also whatever collar we get needs to be automatic and not be one of the ones where you have to use a remote with it and also be fairly light since he is a rather small dog.

We have a found a few different ones we are interested in online but all seem to be split 50/50 on whether they are good or not so we are unsure which would be best to buy so we wanted to get regular peoples suggestions on it first and see what people say.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you and have a nice day.
To all of those who added their own opinions on my question rather than actual answers…My dog is trained, and for the most part very well trained not to ever bark. The only thing he has a problem with barking at is when someone is at the door or someone shuts their car door outside. Normally this would not be and issue except for it is hurting our other small dog when he does bark due to the condition with her ears and hearing. Any loud noises hurt her, including him barking even for a small bit. The vet was even the one who told us we need to get to not bark as much as possible (preferably never) for the sake of the other dog and suggested we look into the collars. We even have to watch our tv very low and be as quiet as possible for her.

So please, if you’re not going to give a real answer or real suggestions and are only going to write comments such as "why not train your dog" please don’t even waste my time posting on here.

Thank you.

How to make a neighbors dog stop barking?!?

neighbors barking dog

It’s driving me crazy! They let the dog out every 2 hours, and all the dog does is bark until they decide to let it in. And when ever my dog goes out when the other dog is too, the other dog barks like crazy. I swear I’m going to lose my mind if I don’t find a way to shut that dog up!
(I have already tried to tell my neighbors that their dog really needs to stop when it’s 10 p.m ….. They didn’t do a thing..)
