How do you deal with neighbors who are difficult?

dog barking deterrent

I live in a small community and I have neighbors to the north of me who have I think 5 dogs. Our city code for animals is that you can only have 3 dogs, unless you have a shelter license. I have a shelter/rescue license, but I only have my 2 dogs. I don’t know if my neighbors have one or not. The difficult part about them is that they let their dogs come and go out of their house and they bark constantly when I am out in my backyard, so much that I HATE going in my backyard because that’s all they do. Its a see through fence, bout 4 feet high. I think i’m a good neighbor. I don’t let my dogs bark constantly. I yell at them to be quiet because I don’t want that to happen to me. But my neighbors never yell at their dogs to be quiet. So I’ve tried spraying them with water to get them to stop. Doesn’t work. My other neighbors even went to the point of putting up a 6 foot privacy fence because the dogs would bark at them as well. I went and bought a Dazer 2. Its a ultrasonic repelling dog Deterrent Trainer. Produces a discomforting but not harmful high powered sound, audible to dogs but not to humans. It helps stop the approach of unwanted dogs at up to 20 feet. Also a useful aid in training dogs. I’ve used it on my dogs to train them, it works. I used it on the neighbor dogs and the neighbor saw me use it. I tried to explain to him it doesn’t hurt them, but he didn’t care. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to call the cops on them for being a nuisance. I’d really like to put up a privacy fence, but I don’t know if my landlords would go for that, plus it costs money. Any suggestions or advice would be great. I’m open to everything. Thanks!

ultrasonic dog

I know how dogs act when being blasted by an ultrasonic device such as the hand held remote-sized bark training tools.

Up until now mine has been a happy playful puppy who has rarely barked (10 times or so total in 5 months – total barks, not barking episodes), so she isn’t bothering anyone.

Lately she has been hesitant to go out in the yard, and when she is out there she immediately looks toward the neighbors houses and then hides behind anything structural and solid that she can find. She will even frantically jump and climb over a 4 foot wall to hide. The second I open the door she bolts into the house and acts fine.

There no animals in that direction, no noises, nothing I can figure out other than she acts exactly like she is being ultrasonic blasted. Is there some sort of detector available like the gadgets that can detect wireless cameras?

How do I stop cat from urinating on things?

dog deterrent

I’ve asked this question a thousand times, and I still don’t know what to do. It’s getting frustrated.

Basically my cat is almost 4 years old, I’ve had him since he was a 3 month old kitten. He has been neutered since I got him and still has his claws. I also have a dog and we lived with another cat for a while. He’s been urinating on things since I got him. Anything that can be construed as a bed (pet beds, pillows, mats, folded laundry). I have narrowed down reasons and I think he doesn’t like other animals.

I’ve tried deterrents and foil and things. As soon as the foil is off, he comes back to it and pees on it. I’m tired of buying new things and I’m tired of smelling cat pee!

Is this just the way he is? If so, it’s annoying. Any suggestions on how to make him stop? I can’t just get rid of everything soft, I don’t want to get rid of him, and I don’t want to get rid of the dog.

7&1/2 foot Python on the loose!?

dog deterrent

Our neighbors have lost their sons 7&1/2 ft. Python.
The neighbor’s didn’t tell us for a week and now they are acting like it’s no big deal. They said it cannot kill or eat anything bigger than a rat… BULL SPIT!
We are in the county so animal control can do nothing.
We have 2 small dogs and a cat that we have closed off the doggy door (keeping dogs in and safe and keeping snake out)
And are not allowing them to go out without us for protection from this snake.
Our dogs want to play in their own yard!
Are there any deterrents to keep this snake out of our yard and keep our animals safe?
We have checked into snake deterrents for snakes native to our area, but a Python snake is not a native to this country
(Not sure if this stuff will work on a python) and I don’t think I’ll feel safe until it is found.
What can be done?

dog deterrent

I have checked some of the pet store websites and haven’t found anything. The deterrent could be scent, or electricity, or just an unpleasant feel. We have some outside dogs that get a little insistent when they want to come inside. We don’t want to hurt them–just keep them from damaging the door.

I would appreciate any websites or other sources that I might be able to check out.
<I>, I didn’t give you a violation notice. I gave you a best answer.

About the ASPCA, we live in Pleasanton, Texas. I’m not going to give a street address for obvious reasons. We don’t want to hurt our animals, just keep them from damaging our brand new and very expensive back door. I doubt if the ASPCA would find our actions objectionable–they might even have some good ideas.
<I>, I have also noted that my question and your best answer have been removed. Apparently someone didn’t like any of it. I will, of course, appeal the removal of the question. I can’t guarantee any results by Yahoo, but the removal was not the result of any direct action I took, and I think it is a good and legitimate question.

I chose your answer as best answer because it seemed to illustrate my point. You were abusive, abrasive and resorted to name-calling. This was the behavior I find objectionable.

Perhaps my answer to you may have provoked the removal of my question. I will let Yahoo decide.

Neighbors dog won't stop barking, what can I do?

neighbors barking dog

When my downstairs neighbor’s dog barks to itself for three or four hours every day when she leaves her apartment. I complained to the landlord but he won’t do anything because as long as he’s getting rent money he doesn’t care what goes on.

I assume there are laws against noisy animals but I’m not sure if I should complain to the police or what. Any suggestions? Thanks

…Gard and Bell & Howell models.
The deer are lovely animals but they are no respecters of property. They eat everything in sight including grass, flowers and vegetables. While we don’t want to harm them, we sure would like to drive them away. A friend of ours told us that there are various ultrasonic animal repellers but, while they are sometimes effective against dogs and cats, they probably don’t work with deer.
