She’s a golden retriever. She barks consantly ALL night long and sometimes during the day too. She’s outside. We have to keep her in a pen at night so she doesn’t get out of the fence. We have tried the bark collars that shock them when they bark. It worked for a few months, but it doesn’t work anymore. Does the ultrasonic bark control work? My mom said I have to make her stop or we will have to either get rid of her or get her vocal cords removed. I need some suggestions. Thank you for reading this!
She CAN’T be inside. We have a bird, and guinea pigs that she would kill. Plus she’s too big and would tear stuff up. And what in the world can happen to her outside??? She’s fine. I just want the barking to stop.
Ok, can you just tell me what I can buy to make her stop barking? I love Angel and I spend time with her. We let her out during the day and we play with her a lot. I’m not getting rid of her. She is barking at other dogs in the neighborhood and the cat, not because she’s lonely.
Ok, she has a big pen that has a big dog house in it. She only stays in there at night and when we’re gone so she doen’t dig out of the fence and dig up the yard. Why can’t golden retrievers be outside? She’s 6 years old and we’ve had her outside her whole life. I don’t think I’m the only person in the world that keeps my dog outside. I don’t see a problem with that. I’m not getting rid of her or removing her vocal cords. I JUST want the barking to stop. I DON’T need people telling me to give her away or bring her inside!!! I want to know if those things you buy really work. Never mind. If you don’t know about the bark control you can buy then please don’t answer. I’m getting really frustrated. Does anyone know if electronic/ ultrasonic pest control (like riddex or sunbeam) harm pet birds? I know that it doesn’t bother cats or dogs.

Hi, I got a ultra sonic bark collar for my dog and fortunately he does not like the sound (I have friends whose dogs totally shrug off the sound) but unfortunately this collar is going off even if he bumps into things so he is getting really paranoid. I like the collar because with a 9v battery it has lasted months (unlike some other collars, esp shock ones) but I could use something that say takes vibration into account before sounding off (ok, and something that escalates the sound if he continues barking would be nice as there have been a few occasions where he does shrug it off [only about 3 times in 4 months so far]).
For the record, I have found the perfect collar (http://www.amazon.com/SportDOG-Rechargeable-NoBark-Control-Collar/dp/B00173CWDW/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1295088958&sr=8-7) rechargeable, can escalate, etc… except its a shock collar (For my dog I know that the ultrasonic one is sufficient)
Hmmm, apparently there are some ESL’ers reading this. I found, did not buy the shock collar, it is perfect in its functions except it shocks. As for the training, we have tried, for months now, has not worked.

okay my neighbor has an English Setter 2 German Shorthaired Pointers and a Pointer…well the English Setter barks CONSTANTLY see our houses are kind of close together and their backyard is fenced in…her dog barks at me the second i step out the door…no matter what…he even barks at me inside my house b/c he can hear me inside my house…my neighbor cant shut them up either…she tries and he keeps on barking…she even has shock collars and as soon as the battery dies the dog starts barking again…im sick of this…its to the point where im miserable at my own house…ive done everything…squirted him with the waterhose…screamed at him…threw stuff at him…idk what else to do…and no i cant call the police…i live in the county theres nothing they can do about a barking dog…what can i do?
i cant bring him to my home…i own 4 dogs also…i prolly have done a lot of things he doesnt like…b/c ive tried and tried and tried to shut his ass up and i never can…i mean sometimes i want to get a gun and shoot the dog…i know that sounds cruel but i really feel like it sometimes
no i cant do that either…thats one reason why he barks is b/c i tried to shut him up once and gave him a little bit of dog food…well guess what? now everytime i come outside he wants me to feed him something!
DogCrazy: i done your idea and gave him a dog bone and he is finally quiet…i will tell my neighbor when she gets home that i gave her dog and bone so he would be quiet (she doesnt get mad about stuff like that)

I have been looking at several antibark devices to stop the 5-6 dogs my neighbors have in their backyard from ruining my day by waking me up many times while I sleep.

There are several on the market, including a few on EBay that have mixed feedbacks. Most all are automatic ultrasonic units. One did claim to be better because it was manually activated so other noises won’t set it off.

I have worked with the police/court system on this before and got it to stop. Problem now is that after 1 1/2 of the dogs being stored inside their garage, they have built a fence. Now the dogs are in the backyard again barking.
However it is not as constant as when they were kept out there on chains before. It will be considerably harder to go to court with it this time since they don’t bark over 10 minutes straight like before.

They bark now for a few minutes and just about the time you go to sleep again they fire back up.

And no, killing them is not an option.
I have used ear plugs in the past. Generally I roll over and they fall out. I even tried the expensive wax kind that forms to your ear.

I also have run a fan on high. Problem is the barking is so loud it won’t begin to cover it up. Not even close. A TV set on really loud does good to be over top of it.
These aren’t bark collars, they are boxes that emit sound when a dog barks.

If they bark for longer periods I can file a civil suit. I was close a couple years ago when they agreed to put them in their garage.

My lawyer found a VERY similar case where the person in my shoes won and was the only complainer, right here in my state.
Does anybody here have an recommendations on a specific device? There are about 5 on the market that I see.

HELP I’m going crazy!

My wife has adopted a few Pomeranians. Don’t get me wrong, I love these little critters….just like kids. However, their barking has been driving me absolutely insane lately. They have free run of a large back yard, a doggie door to come and go when they please, and are walked faithfully daily.

When I take them for walks, they are great! No noise, obedient, smart, etc. The problem is they are deafening when someone comes to the door, are outside by themselves, the wind blows, etc. I have tried ultrasonic barkers, remote controlled collars and the automatic shock collars. These all work to a degree, but with this breed being so small, the collars are not designed for them.

My wife has resorted to sleeping downstairs with the dogs in order to let me get a good nights sleep without a barking interruption.

i have a few mice and i have tried the live traps but they don’t work anymore its as if the mice figured out what they are. i refuse to use glue traps and the snap traps for various reasons. i am wondering if these ultra sonic ones work and if the bother dogs. thanks

I feel a little guitly as mine and theirs dogs use to bicker on at each other for ages on end. He died of a heart attack caused by the barking and literally died midway through a bark. How could this of happened?

A few questions. Do they work? Are they safe for the dogs? Are they cruel, does it hurt the dogs? Which devices are the best? Would you recommend for a dog with out of control barking? Any one who owns one? What do you think? Thank you very much.

They bark all night. We have went over tho the neighbors house and asked her to quiet them down. half the time she wont answer her door the other half she says it was not her dogs barking. We wrote her a letter and she sent it back in shreds. We called the prosecuters office and they are going to send her a letter. Has anyone elese went through a similar situation? What did you do? What happend? Any advice?
