My dog is a very good dog. She had some behavioral issues when she was younger, but what puppy doesn’t. Anyway, these past few months, she has been so good. She doesn’t really bark anymore. I had gotten so used to her barking for no reason that when she became quiet I would get scared that something had happened to her.
Anyway, about a week ago, I received an anonymous letter. The letter stated that the writer was fed up with my dog’s "incessant non-stop all day long barking." They said that if my dog did not stop, they would contact the police department. I was extremely upset. For one thing, my dog doesn’t really bark anymore. If she does, it’s like one or two barks. Let’s just say that I rarely even hear her bark at all. If anything, there are many other dogs in our neighborhood and I hear them barking more frequently. So, I contacted the police department to see how the procedure goes and they told me not to worry, but just in case to keep a log of any dogs barking so that I can contest it in case the neighbor actually does file a complaint.
Anyway, I do not want to lose her. I know that she did have a barking problem before, but these past two months have been better for her. She is a good girl.
I have been looking into products that I could use when I am at work (this is the only time when I cannot vouch for her and say that she doesn’t bark. I do not work everyday. I only work two days a week. The problem is that the shifts are really long. I read on the instruction manual that they are not supposed to wear the collar for over 12 consecutive hours. So, any suggestions, advice, or input? I tried the ultrasonic product but it actually made her bark continuously.
Please do not leave any answers where you are criticizing me and saying how inhumane it is. I know that already. I only bought this product as a precaution. My city regulations stated that before removing a "nuisance" dog, there are a series of steps that will be done to ease the "problem." One of the solutions was a bark control collar. If her past problems are held against her, than at least I have proof that I am taking control of the situation.
I would really appreciate and encourage any stories you have of your good and bad experiences with these type of collars. Thank you.

I am looking to get a puppy within the next 2-3 months and have chosen breeders with available puppies for both a lab and a shepherd. I am an adult, I live in a 2 bedroom condo. Although I do not have a yard, I run twice a day, live near an off leash dog park and only work 3 days a week as an RN. I have 2 cats in the house who are dog savvy. I like labs being so friendly. But on the other hand, as a woman – I’d really like the protection and deterrent that a shepherd would offer.

www.dogtrackingsecrets.com Click the link to find the newsletter. Dog barking and maybe more precisely how to stop dog barking is something that puzzles many dog owners. They are looking for the final solution to dog barking and unfortunately (in my opinion) many also went for the less nice option of using bark collars and other anti bark devices. Many years ago I stumbled upon a quite simple bark stop solution. I have successfully used this method on my own dogs and also helped several of my friends. You don’t have to buy anything and this will stop dog barking at people, at the doorbell, bikes, lawnmowers, strangers, other animals and I would say anything you could think of. It is a method that works 24/7 and you are in total control. Unfortunately this will not help you to stop neighbor’s dog barking.

My puppy likes farts, whenever someone lets one off he runs over and starts digging at their bottom.
Does any one else have this problem with their dog?
Is this a valuable skill? As it could act as a deterrent for sneeky farters in my house.

I’m looking for a solid deterrent/protection trainable dog. I’ve narrowed my search down to either a rottweiler or czech shepherd. I’ve also narrowed it to either this breeding CK’06 Bodo v Schloss Hexental x DIABLESSE v SCHLOSS HEXENTAL from Schloss Hexental in Belgium or a puppy from a litter out of Jinopo. I was also looking at Dargo Aykmar a 1 year old czech shepherd from the same breeder.
From a breed standpoint, I like both the GSD and rottweiler with the rottie taking a slight lead if I were just going to get another pet. I’m looking overseas because there isn’t much offered in the US anymore other then watered down show crap.
Since I can’t afford to make trips to Belgium and Czech to physically look at the dogs. I was hoping someone might know about these kennels/dog breedings and have some input.
Dutchman, I know what you mean, I like the pz lines as well. I know alot of Jinopo studs were sold to various people in the US. If I get one, I’m banking on Jiri’s reputation and others that I’ve talked to who have gotten dogs from him that I would actually get a good pup or like I said I really like the Dargo dog.

www.mysugarmyspice.com It has been only a week and I can quite confidently say that, it is working baby! changing from wood pellets to wee wee pad has been huge success! From the first day she just took it so well, and except, some exceptions…. 90% of times, she just do it on the wee wee pad. and her diapers are gone for good. and I bought a few clickers from pet shop and this ultrasonic remotecontrols. I keep them here and there in the house and whenever I see she is doing something good, I beep/click them. it works! better than yelling at them

So I live in a not so friendly neighbour hood. I am considering adopting one of the dogs I am fostering. I often do not like walking at night especially now that the sun is going down earlier and earlier, because I fear for my safety, as well as the safety of my current 15 lbs puppy.
Now I would never do something that would be bad for my dogs health, behavior, etc…
Now the puppy i’m considering adopting is going to be large and fairly intimidating looking.
She would make for a good watch dog as well as a good deterrent to creepers on walks. She would make me feel safe. Now I by no means know how to train a guard dog, and would NEVER consider doing it on my own. But I have looked up some on this and there is specific hard core training places that help to train you and your dog. I would like her to know when a threat is perceived or if I use a command that she would step in to action.
Now I wanted some advice on this as I am unsure about the whole idea. Anything is appreciated. Thank you.
Lorraine – Not my question. But thanks.
@Lorraine. Trust me, I absolutely love Rottie’s. I would not get one in my current circumstances by any means. I appreciate the breed as one of my all time favorites. The one I was considering adopting is a mutt. First Nations Reserve rescue that I am fostering, along with her sister.
Was just curious about the process of training. Thanks for the advice. Keep fighting for Rotties.
