*Accurate* ultrasonic bark deterring collars?

ultrasonic dog

Hi, I got a ultra sonic bark collar for my dog and fortunately he does not like the sound (I have friends whose dogs totally shrug off the sound) but unfortunately this collar is going off even if he bumps into things so he is getting really paranoid. I like the collar because with a 9v battery it has lasted months (unlike some other collars, esp shock ones) but I could use something that say takes vibration into account before sounding off (ok, and something that escalates the sound if he continues barking would be nice as there have been a few occasions where he does shrug it off [only about 3 times in 4 months so far]).
For the record, I have found the perfect collar (http://www.amazon.com/SportDOG-Rechargeable-NoBark-Control-Collar/dp/B00173CWDW/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1295088958&sr=8-7) rechargeable, can escalate, etc… except its a shock collar (For my dog I know that the ultrasonic one is sufficient)
Hmmm, apparently there are some ESL’ers reading this. I found, did not buy the shock collar, it is perfect in its functions except it shocks. As for the training, we have tried, for months now, has not worked.

neighbors barking dog

early in the morning etc etc tried muzzle shock collars nothing works Its getting to the point where I may do something that i might regret.thanks
no not that I have muzzled the dog or shocked the dog the Neighbor has done that shock collar and muzzle but has not worked If you saw the set-up they have the dog in you would say it is animal abuse the never walk the dog and they are always gone very inexperienced pet owners.
I have only tried to calm the dog Ive even fed it snack treats. milkbones

I have a 4 year old havanese and during the past year she has developed the bad habit of whining. I already keep her in an enclosed space with a comfy bed, a toy, the TV on, food and water. I got dog appeasing pharmones (DAP) which worked for a while, but not long. I also already tried the ultrasonic barking thing that emits an annoying noise when she barks. I think my last try is a shock collar because the neighbor keeps complaining and she works from home. What do I do?!?!

How on earth can i get my dog to stop barking?

ultrasonic dog

I have a red cattle dog who is now 14 months old. Over the past month he has developed a horrible habit of barking practically all the time, non-stop. We’ve tried almost everything, including:
a) telling him "quiet" then giving him a treat when he is quiet for 3, 6 or 9 seconds
b) ignoring him
c) chastising him
d) ultrasonic collar
e) citronella collar (this actually worked wonders for a few days and then he decided to ignore it and keep barking anyway >:\ )
f) doing what the dog trainer said and putting him in an isolated place when he barks (our bathroom) and then letting him out when he’s quiet.
I have no idea what to do now. I don’t want to get him a shock collar because I believe they are cruel. There’s a two week training course at a local petcare place but I really want that as a last resort.
We think he barks because he wants attention?
Please help!!!

ultrasonic dog

My brother’s dog is quite a nuisance lol He is about 6 1/2 months old and is a mix breed of husky shepherd beagle and collie, so he’s quite a big dog already. he is always extremely hyper and can be quite load when he’s running through the house. on top of that he can never be left alone cause he will chew and destroy anything he can get to. The other day we all went out and we chained him up in the kitchen. When we got back, he got into all the Tupperware and chewed it all up and he also got to the Christmas lights in the window! My bro also mentioned that he got to his futon bed as well and ripped two holes in that.

His dog is out of control. We need to train him properly to get him out of these habits. what can we do?

Also, what to recommend to train for barking? I don’t like the idea of a shock collar [i found ultrasonic shcok collars if those would be better?] and was thinking of trying a muzzle.

thanks for the help

An dog that cant be trained…?

ultrasonic dog

My dog has been a lost cause for a long time.
We have tried numerous training methods and even professional trainers.
I have since had a baby and his uncontrollable barking, jumping, and biting can not be tolerated anymore.
I really don’t want to have to use a shock collar, but clicker, citronella, ultrasonic.. didn’t work.

We are all worried he could kill or severely harm my daughter. He has already stepped on her, I couldn’t hold him back. He jumps and constantly barks at me when I hold her, jumps on me. He jump on her carrier hitting her.

No matter who comes over to the house he jumps all over them and barks the whole time. We have tried taking him into other rooms, but he is too strong. He is a GSD/Coonhound mix.

I live with my parents momentarily, he is my 20 year old brothers dog, and there is no option of finding him (dog) a new home. My brother refuses to deal with the dog, or even care for it.
It’s called correction doesn’t work.
I have tried those collars.

My Swiss Mountain Dog barks when I leave…?

ultrasonic dog

I live in a towne house. While it has ample room for my dog, I do have neighbors relatively close. Lately, when I leave my dog barks incessantly sometimes for a few minutes, but often times a half hour or more. I don’t know what to do. I’ll wait downstairs after I leave to let her bark, so I can come back in to correct her, but it seems she doesn’t bark until I get in the car and drive away. I’ve been considering either a shock collar or an ultrasonic collar. I don’t want to use a citronella collar. Does anyone have an opinion or recommendation for the shock collar or ultrasonic collar?
I don’t need you to tell me what not to do only – if you have no recommendations on what I CAN do because this is a real problem then don’t bother.

Anyone know of a doorway sound barrier for pets?

dog deterrent

I was searching the web a while back and stumbled upon a device that you stick in the frame of the door and it emits a sound the dog doesn’t like so it keeps them from running out the front door. It was relatively cheap too… sadly I didn’t purchase it and now I really wish I had. My dog can run like no tomorrow and once he’s free he likes to stay that way (LOVES to run). I can’t remember what it’s called and every time I search for it I only come up with these ultrasonic devices you put in the door that activate a shock collar on the dog. I’m just looking for the simple sound deterrent that uses some frequency dogs don’t like… no collar or shocking involved. Does ANYONE know what I’m talking about?
Well there definitely is such a thing because I almost bought it… We’ve probably spent a couple grand on obedience classes already. He’s just that stubborn. The renowned instructor even said we have a difficult dog LOL Yes we’ve used the leash. Yes we’ve stood there and repeatedly gone over it with him. He’s just stubborn and I can’t exactly keep him on a chain in the house! He’s making me broke and exhausted from chasing him blocks at a time. Even when I don’t chase him he just goes off exploring anyway cause it’s fun. And no that’s not safe, he’s not smart about cars- has almost been hit on a few occasions. We do have a big fenced in back yard but that’s apparently not enough. We move regularly (military) so haven’t gone as far as electronic fences. I’d just like something to block the front door… darn dog… maybe I’ll just barricade the door and start using the window lol

NOT cats, or other small animals,or rodents… to be used as a training aid. Can’t seem to find one on ebay? Any ideas? And NOT a shock collar type thing!!! Just a sound wave device.
No, not a dog whistle, I’m talking about something battery powered, about the size of half your palm..I’ve seen this somewhere..
Thanks lovemylab, but it’s not barking I need to control, and it must not need a collar or affect cats or rodents.

Hi Everyone

Before everyone starts jumping the gun, can I point out that this is NOT a shock collar, I dont agree with them and think they should be illegal.

So, what I am asking is if anyone has any experience with this device, the website is ultimatebarkcontrol . com

We have 2 labs and our neighbours are very upset that they bark when we are in work

I really am not looking for anyone to tell me I am cruel for having dogs when I have a job etc, they are both rescue dogs who are looked after very very well, they are only outside for the 8 hours we are in work, other than that they are inside all the time and they NEVER bark when we are home.

Thanks in advance!
Hi Basil and Wallace. I’ve read a lot of customer reviews (not on their website obv.) and the moneyback guarantee seems to work, as some people have said it didnt work for them so they returned it but had to pay delivery charges (which I wouldnt mind)

My dogs never bark when we are there, so we can’t discipline/train them! It would nearly be easier if they DID bark while we were home! :)

Thanks for your advice x
Pruin – It’s not an issue of them not getting enough exercise, they are taken for long walks morning and evening, they are lab crosses and they are not hugely energetic dogs they are quite relaxed.. as I said we look after them extremely well so that’s not an issue. I wasnt really looking for advice on how to treat them, I was looking for advice on the product!!
